Alrihkh Tiago Masseti has such a powerful and expressive voice, and the lyrics are worthy of expression, indeed. Daydream XI are an awesome metal band. IMO, their music is comparable to bands like Queensrÿche, Dream Theatre, & Symphony X in technicality, song structures, quality and creativity. I highly recommend this song and their album TCOTTAT. Listen to it and support this band! You won’t regret it! 8/10. Favorite track: The Death of Art.

about

The Death of Art is the first Daydream XI official release since the band's highly-acclaimed sophomore album The Circus of the Tattered and Torn. It marks a further incursion into the progressive aspects of their music and it's also the band's first release as an independent artist.

Written by frontman Tiago Masseti, the song dives deep into his discontent with the music industry, the way society consumes art and his personal relation to the songwriting process as a way to cope with reality. It carries a hopeful message, yet taking the listener through a dark path to get to it.

lyrics

*The Death of Art*

Hiding deep beneath what I was meant to be
And I kneel
Tired of time and everything it represents
And I wait
Troubled by all the dreadful countless sleepless nights
And I wake
Questions that slowly fade into another day
And I ask

Thought he’d soon become a king
Wielding control over all things
But now he’s just a wheel in the machine
Carrying a wayward daydream

[Chorus]
Until there are no more songs to sing
And there’s nothing to be made
Until the death of art
When hope fades away
We can still believe
There is a brighter day

My mind seems to have been wired differently
And I think
My eyes only see in shades of black and grey
And they thrive
My wings are made of something no one understands
And I fly
Hiding that sometimes I am lonesome and afraid
And I deny

Thought he’d soon become a king
Wielding control over all things
But now he’s just a wheel in the machine
Carrying a wayward daydream

[Chorus]
Until there are no more songs to sing
And there’s nothing to be made
Until the death of art
When hope fades away
We can still believe
What lies ahead
Is more than dreams
And something to be said

I keep feeding your lies
And heeding your cries
But not anymore
Cause this…this is the death of art

Until there are no more songs to sing
And there is nothing to be made
Until our hope fades away
We still believe in a brighter day

Until there are no more songs to sing
And there is nothing to be made
Until our hope fades away
And we feel nothing
